About this grant
This project will support a three-year partnership between the National Geographic Society and the Mott Foundation focused on developing content and curriculum that will inspire and engage young people in afterschool programs to embrace geography, exploration, and science. The Mott Foundation 50-state network will be leveraged to fully implement this partnership through disseminating new curriculum and engaging afterschool educators. This grant will focus on development and implementation of the following: (1) afterschool educator curriculum assets; (2) educator training and certification; (3) educator community; and (4) robust and engaging student learning experiences. This project will also include evaluation and strategic communications components, as well as a digital dissemination strategy in coordination with the Mott Afterschool App that is currently under development. Along with Jazz at Lincoln Center, this project is part of an effort to add name brand, thematic partnerships to the afterschool grantmaking portfolio.
