About this grant
The Franciscan Solidarity Service is a Catholic association in Brazil that promotes a vision of social action based on social, human, and environmental rights and Franciscan Christian principles. Over the past grant period, the grantee researched and met with local Amazon communities and public agencies to study reported increases and causes of threats and violence against environmental and human rights defenders. The Franciscan Solidarity Service will, over the next grant period, develop security strategies and tools with selected Amazon communities impacted by large-scale development pressure in the forest.
