About this grant
The project goal is to ensure that community-based paralegals have access to, and are included in, the Bachelor of Paralegal Studies at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. To this end, the grantee will undertake research and explore ways to make the Bachelor of Paralegal Studies inclusive and accessible for community-based paralegals. During the first phase of this project, the grantee will conduct a comprehensive survey of community-based paralegals’ existing knowledge and draft a recognition of prior learning instrument. During the second phase of this project, the grantee will workshop the recognition of prior learning instrument with paralegals and provide recommendations on a teaching and learning methodology. The grantee is the first university in South Africa to launch an official Bachelor of Paralegal Studies degree program.
