About this grant

The project goal is to inform policymakers and nonprofit practitioners of the impact of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act on the nonprofit sector. Independent Sector will organize an expert convening, conduct research on unrelated business income tax, analyze the potential impact of different legislative proposals, and undertake market research on effective messaging. Throughout this process, the grantee will collaborate with other infrastructure groups and nonprofit coalitions to gather quantitative and qualitative data as it becomes available. In addition to sharing and curating the data they collect with others, the grantee will use its own platform to provide the public, policymakers, and the sector at large with relevant information to help inform ongoing advocacy. Founded in 1980, Independent Sector is a leadership network for nonprofits, foundations, and corporations committed to advancing the common good through research, advocacy, and resource development.
