West Virginia Statewide Afterschool Network

About this grant

This grant will support the West Virginia University Extension Service which coordinates the West Virginia Statewide Afterschool Network to continue the development of policy, partnerships and resources to benefit youth in afterschool programs. Specific initiatives will include: 1) launching a statewide afterschool initiative to support young people impacted by the opioid crisis; 2) conducting a state mapping effort to identify gaps in services, effective practices for rural areas and areas for potential growth; 3) developing a toolkit for afterschool programs to support quality training for programs serving youth that have experienced trauma as a result of the substance misuse crisis; and 4) supporting the promotion and distribution of Mizzen by Mott.
