About this grant

Founded in 1980, Michigan Environmental Council is a statewide environmental nonprofit organization based in Lansing. With prior Mott support, the grantee helped implement the Great Lakes Compact, the Clean Water Act, and other freshwater policies that protect and restore the Great Lakes ecosystem. With this grant increase, Michigan Environmental Council will host a one-day workshop on Michigan Drinking Water Policy Priorities. This will help formulate new policies for responding to drinking water threats, including lead and emerging chemicals like PFAS. The grant increase will also support the continued work of a drinking water expert to improve standards for certifying lead-free drinking water plumbing materials and fixtures.
