About this grant
The Council on Foundations is a national membership organization that currently represents 700 private foundations, community foundations, and corporate funders. Its mission is to provide the opportunity, leadership, and tools needed by philanthropic organizations to expand, enhance, and sustain their ability to advance the common good. The grantee’s top-level organizational goals are to amplify the work of philanthropy, advocate for philanthropy, and strengthen the philanthropic sector. Additional funding is needed for the grantee to balance its budget and to undergo a leadership transition in 2019. The grantee will also create a Dues Model Task force to re-examine all aspects of membership with an overarching near-term goal of increasing membership to 800 by January 1, 2020. In the longer term, the grantee will seek to grow its membership in order to enhance its legitimacy to represent the philanthropic sector in the United States and to ensure its financial sustainability.
