About this grant
This grant provides general purpose support to Independent Sector, a national membership organization that brings together a diverse community of changemakers at nonprofits, foundations and corporate giving programs working to strengthen civil society and ensure all people in the United States thrive. In the past year, the grantee has: 1) launched an important research compendium and benchmarking tool, The Health of the Nonprofit Sector; 2) co-created the National Infrastructure Investment Advocacy Group; and 3) engaged thousands of nonprofit and philanthropic leaders in its events. Over the next two years the grantee will focus on sector impact, community building and public policy to enhance health and equity in American civil society. Founded in 1980, Independent Sector currently has 495 organizational members and advances its mission by fostering a sense of belonging, catalyzing action and providing policy leadership across the full breadth of the charitable sector.
