About this grant

The African Philanthropy Forum was established in 2014 as an affiliate of the Global Philanthropy Forum. In 2017, the African Philanthropy Forum became an independent entity and continues to affiliate with the Global Philanthropy Forum. The goal of the grantee is to build a learning community of African philanthropists and social investors committed to inclusive and sustainable development throughout the continent. Through its annual conferences, the grantee has created platforms for current and emerging philanthropists to interact, learn, and share best practices to increase the impact of their work. Since its inception, the grantee has reached over 1400 philanthropists and social investors on the continent and has members in Cameroon, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda. During this grant period, the grantee will: 1) create platforms that provide information on the state of philanthropy and social investment on the continent; 2) connect philanthropists and social investors to causes that address major challenges; and 3) expand the tools that members can access to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and scale of their interventions.
