About this grant
This grant will provide renewal support to the African Philanthropy Forum whose goal is to strengthen philanthropy in Africa by building a community of strategic philanthropists and social investors committed to learning and advancing inclusive development. To achieve this goal, the grantee plans to: 1) support collaborative efforts that respond to systemic challenges in Africa; 2) promote strategic philanthropy as an approach to resource development in African countries; 3) convene members to build a strong community of practice; 4) provide practical tools to enhance members’ giving practices; and 5) generate knowledge that benefits the sector and its members. To date, the grantee has impacted the work of over 3,500 philanthropists and social investors across 14 countries in Africa. Past support has enabled the grantee to host in-person events in several countries, conduct research that benefits members and the sector, launch a platform that connects members to worthy causes in their countries and across Africa and partner with other like-minded organizations on areas of common interest to deepen philanthropy in Africa. The African Philanthropy Forum is based in Lagos, Nigeria.
