About this grant
The Council of Michigan Foundations is a statewide association of 300 grantmakers that provides its members with educational programs, technical assistance, networking opportunities, advocacy with policymakers and regulators, and collaborative work with leading national and regional philanthropic associations. During 2017-2019, the grantee will pursue eight strategies: 1) engaging members where they want to be; 2) strategically recruiting new members; 3) connecting members to the assistance they need; 4) conducting active internal evaluation and assessment; 5) growing the sector’s collective voice in public policy; 6) expanding diversity, equity, and inclusion of the sector; 7) nurturing mission-aligned social enterprise opportunities; and 8) achieving organizational effectiveness. Additional funds are needed for the general purposes of the organization, including the education of decision-makers on the impact of the (December 2017) Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
