About this grant
This grant provides funding to support the strengthening of philanthropy in Africa by connecting the field, promoting learning and enhancing the narrative of philanthropy in Africa. The Africa Philanthropy Network is a continent-wide network of grantmaking and other philanthropic organizations in Africa. The grantee brings together foundations, intermediary grantmakers and practitioners from across Africa to learn, generate new knowledge and give voice to philanthropy. During the previous grant period, the grantee produced new knowledge on philanthropy in Africa, promoted national and regional networking and hosted learning events. The grantee partnered with the Worldwide Initiative for Grantmaker Support to host the WINGS Forum in Africa. During the current grant period, Africa Philanthropy Network will build on its work to create connections across the philanthropy ecosystem in Africa, raise the profile of African philanthropy in global forums, produce knowledge on the culture of philanthropy in Africa and connect likeminded philanthropic organizations.
