About this grant
The project goal is to generate knowledge about the state of giving in East Africa through research. Charities Aid Foundation will conduct a study in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania with the aim of understanding the culture of giving and philanthropy and the state of civil society in the region. In addition, the study will focus on understanding the policies and mechanisms that enable giving and the institutions that exist in identified countries to support and promote philanthropy. Findings will be shared widely and serve as a resource to developing policy messages at country and regional levels. Charities Aid Foundation has over 90 years of experience working to stimulate philanthropy and social investment through research and by advocating for a favorable policy environment for giving. Based in the United Kingdom, it has a global alliance of locally registered organizations in the United States, South Africa, Australia, India, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, and Russia. Through its global alliance network, the grantee has been able to produce research on giving from different parts of the world.
