About this grant
The goal of this project is to support the development of community foundations in Kenya. To achieve this goal, the Kenya Community Development Foundation will increase awareness and understanding of the community foundation concept in Kenya, build the capacity of existing community foundation initiatives to support their evolution into community foundations, facilitate knowledge exchange in the field, and support community foundations to build long-term sustainability strategies. In addition, the grantee will build support for community foundations at the national level by identifying key collaborators and develop a long-term strategy for community foundation development in Kenya. The grantee is a grantmaking organization established in 1997 to support poor and marginalized communities to improve their quality of life and take charge of development activities in their communities. Over the years, the Kenya Community Development Foundation has built strong partnerships with government and businesses to support community-led development in communities that are on the margins of society.
