European Community Foundation Initiative

About this grant

The project goal is to develop the community foundation field and strengthen infrastructure for community foundations in Europe. In collaboration with European community philanthropy support organizations, Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen will continue to manage and develop the European Community Foundation Initiative. Working with its partners, the grantee will strengthen the capacity of existing community foundations and their associations, promote the community foundation concept, facilitate the establishment of new community foundations, advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a framework for community foundations and strengthen the visibility and representation of community foundations vis-à-vis the public sector on the national and European levels. During the previous grant period, the grantee organized a wide range of peer learning activities for more than 250 community foundation practitioners from 21 European countries through study visits, bilateral exchanges and thematic meetings. Also, the grantee implemented a training program on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and published a biannual review of the community foundation field in Europe. Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen is based in Berlin, Germany.
