About this grant
The Building Broader Communities in the Americas initiative, managed by CFLeads and implemented in partnership with the Inter-American Foundation, aims to build stronger, more resilient communities throughout the Americas by enhancing the effectiveness of community foundations’ responsiveness to them. Achievements in 2019-2020 include two in-person convenings, a web page, the issuance of a request for proposals for post-mapping transnational community projects, a strategic plan refresh and the hiring of a project director. Over the next three years, the initiative will continue to pursue its four desired outcomes: 1) building understanding of transnational communities in the hemisphere, 2) strengthening relationships among community foundations and transnational stakeholders to solve common problems, 3) increasing knowledge about community foundation practices that can support transnational communities, and 4) encouraging more effective giving in Latin America and the Caribbean. Established in 1991 as the Coalition of Community Foundations for Youth, CFLeads is a U.S.-based national network of community foundations committed to community leadership.
