About this grant

Based in California, the Water Foundation has a national network of partners that advances lasting solutions to secure safe water for people, restore and sustain freshwater ecosystems and build climate resilience. Methods used include direct grantmaking, field building and campaign strategy development. During the previous grant period, the grantee hosted four drinking water roundtables throughout the country including one for the Great Lakes region. These conversations brought together 25-30 key water leaders in each case to build partnerships and define priority drinking water issues, strategies and solutions. During the next grant period, the grantee will grow a network of drinking water citizen leaders that have emerged in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and support them through message testing and polling, create a resource bank of tools and templates accessible to local leaders across the country, coordinate with and provide support to local leaders in at least three locations (including one in the Great Lakes region) and amplify and spread success stories.
