About this grant
The goal of the Community Advice Office Support Project is to increase access to justice for poor and marginalized communities in the Gauteng province of South Africa. To this end, ProBono.Org will work with a network of seven community advice offices to provide free justice services in poor and marginalized communities. The grantee will also use its network of attorneys to help facilitate their mandatory pro bono hours towards back-up legal support. Working in partnership with attorneys, the grantee will provide legal training sessions on various topics to community paralegals. The grantee is a nonpartisan civil society organization that subscribes to the values of transformative constitutionalism, the rule of law and social justice. ProBono.Org’s primary focus is to harness the skills and expertise of legal practitioners to deliver pro bono civil legal assistance to organizations working for social justice and to expand access to justice for low-income, vulnerable and marginalized communities.
