About this grant
The Elders, a grouping of prominent global leaders, will promote equal access to justice for all. They will undertake global advocacy efforts to frame a narrative around people-centered justice that seeks to address people’s critical justice needs. They will also encourage commitments of additional financial resources to these efforts while also identifying and resolving obstacles to substantive changes in improving justice provision. In addition, the grantee will work to highlight efforts to eliminate gender-based violence as part of the broader quest for justice. This work will focus principally on affecting global policy dialogues on justice in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals, although the grantee will also work to support justice reforms in specific countries, principally in Africa. Initiated by Nelson Mandela, The Elders brings together prominent and experienced political, cultural, and social leaders to work towards solutions of pressing global problems.
