About this grant
The Salesian Missions have been providing education and technical training to poor children around the globe since 1947. The grantee began its work to establish vocational training and youth empowerment centers across Tanzania in 1980. They have now expanded their vocational training to address the energy access deficit in Tanzania. To reach the rural areas, it is crucial that there are adequate technical skills to help develop, sustain, and maintain off-grid solar electric assets deployed to these areas. With this increase, additional funding will provide students with field visits to mini-grid sites, internships with energy access providers, and entrepreneurship training. Additional project management staff will be hired to expand the impact of the Solar Technician Training Program.
