European Community Foundation Initiative

About this grant

The project goal is to develop the community foundation field and strengthen infrastructure for community foundations in Europe. In collaboration with European community philanthropy support organizations, Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen will manage the European Community Foundation Initiative. Working with its partners, the grantee will strengthen the capacity of existing community foundations and their associations, promote the community foundation concept and facilitate the establishment of new community foundations, and strengthen the visibility and representation of community foundations vis-à-vis the public sector on the national and European levels. This grant increase will enable the grantee to strengthen its work on engaging foundations in addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on the local level. To this end, the grantee will increase the understanding of the global goals and their relevance to the work of European community foundations and strengthen the skills of community foundations to utilize the global goals’ framework in their programming.
