About this grant

The project goal is to strengthen the African Centre of Excellence for Access to Justice to promote a learning and sharing agenda. To this end, the Paralegal Advisory Service Institute will continue to host and coordinate the activities of the African Centre of Excellence for Access to Justice. Past support has allowed the grantee to increase the center’s membership to 14 members in 13 African countries, strengthen partnerships with global institutions, collaborate with others to publish research findings on community paralegal infrastructure, co-organize convenings to discuss research findings and attend sessions of the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights. The grantee will continue to implement initiatives to ensure the recognition and financing of community paralegals in Africa and strengthen its resources, offerings and other benefits to its members across the continent. The Paralegal Advisory Service Institute is one of the leading community justice organizations in Africa.
