About this grant
This grant provides funding to an organization whose goal is to increase community-based access to justice for the Ukrainian public. The Legal Development Network, a network of 22 organizations operating 30 community legal centers in Ukraine (as well as three outside of Ukraine since Russia’s illegal invasion) will work to strengthen the resilience and responsiveness of its members. Through mentoring of local partners, repeated engagements with local administrations, and building capacity of member organizations, the grantee will work to ensure high quality legal assistance for those in need despite the numerous challenges such assistance faces. In 2022-23, the grantee more than doubled the number of people to whom it offered legal assistance, despite — or because of — the invasion of Ukraine. Over 200,0000 people were supported with legal assistance and information at home, and a new service for supporting Ukrainians abroad was established, serving a similar number. Formally registered in 2015 and with its secretariat in Kyiv, the Legal Development Network has member organizations in 15 regions of Ukraine.
