About this grant

The Metropolitan Planning Council is one of the Great Lakes region’s leading urban policy groups, focusing most of its work in the Chicago metropolitan region. Chicago, like many cities in the Great Lakes region, faces a series of environmental and public health challenges, such as flooding and access to clean drinking water, which are exacerbated by climate change and other trends. With prior project support from the Mott Foundation, the grantee undertook several Great Lakes regional planning activities, including the control of invasive species and drinking water affordability issues. With general purposes support, the grantee will conduct research, educate stakeholders, provide technical assistance, facilitate coalition meetings and host convenings on a range of issues, including stormwater management, infrastructure investment and environmental justice.
