About this grant
The program goal is to support research, widespread public education and public policy recommendations that will promote giving, volunteering, and civic engagement in America. The Giving USA Foundation is establishing the Generosity Commission, a nonpartisan group that will bring together a breadth of stakeholders, voices, and expertise to explore profound questions about the future of giving, volunteering, and other forms of civic engagement in America. The commission’s goals are to: 1) end the 15-year decline in household giving by adding 20 million Americans who give; 2) reverse a 10-year low in volunteerism; 3) unlock Millennial and Generation Z potential for giving and volunteering; 4) renew all forms of generosity as American priorities; and 5) reinforce the vital role of the nonprofit sector in the United States. Established in 1985 as the charitable arm of the Giving Institute, a trade association of fundraising consultants, the Giving USA Foundation publishes data and trends about charitable giving.
