About this grant
Freshwater Future is one of the only binational environmental nonprofit organizations in the Great Lakes region. The grantee provides grants, capacity building, technical expertise and training to support local groups and leaders working to protect waters in their communities. Since its inception in 1996, with significant support from the Mott Foundation, the grantee has provided over $5 million in grants and technical assistance to grassroots groups around the region. Recently, the grantee has focused more of its efforts and resources to provide support to community-based groups in urban areas to ensure safe drinking water. With renewed support, the grantee will provide financial support and technical assistance to support local groups and networks collaborating on Great Lakes policy issues. Freshwater Future will continue to grow their organizational capacity through expanded fundraising.
