About this grant
This grant provides renewal support to the Council on Foundations, a national philanthropic organization founded in 1949 that currently represents 760 members. The grantee’s mission is to foster an environment where philanthropy can thrive and cultivate a community of diverse and skilled philanthropic professionals and organizations who lead with integrity, serve as ethical stewards and advocate for progress. Despite being virtual for most of 2020 due to the pandemic, the grantee continued to provide a wide variety of programmatic offerings, including regularly produced newsletters for specific constituencies, eight sector publications, regular communications with congressional offices and federal agencies, 66 virtual events for more than 6,000 participants, the Career Pathways leadership development program and approximately 2,000 responses to requests for information on legal matters. In 2021, the grantee will embark on the implementation of a new three-year strategic plan that will help philanthropic institutions and leaders improve, provide engagement opportunities for members and position the Council on Foundations as the primary organization representing the interests of philanthropy.
