About this grant
The project goal is to develop and expand justice commitments of governments participating in the Open Government Partnership. This grantee currently brings together 78 national governments — along with local government and civil society partners — to promote transparency, accountability and more responsive governance. The grantee will work toward three key goals in 2024-25. The grantee will work to see that members are taking meaningful steps to build fair, accessible and accountable justice systems that resolve people’s problems effectively. The grantee will support member efforts to work with partners at the national, local and international levels to help mobilize expertise and political buy-in to support people-centered justice reforms. Additionally, the grantee will work to see that members are advancing concrete reforms to make justice systems that are open to public scrutiny, user-centered and that harness technology for innovation in this respect. In 2022-23, the partnership saw the number of justice commitments grow to 316 across more than 150 national open government action plans, making justice the leading subject area of open government commitments.
