About this grant

The project goal is to support landless and homeless communities to improve their living conditions. The Community Organisation Resource Centre achieves this goal by 1) creating platforms for learning, connections and solidarity among and for homeless and landless communities; 2) supporting communities to collect data and profile their settlements to engage effectively with local government structures on improvements to the settlements; and 3) working with movements of slum dwellers to engage local, regional and national government. The grantee will work with the Federation of the Urban Poor and the Informal Settlement Network to engage effectively with government on the improvement of slums and broader service delivery, grow its savings programs to use as leverage for additional funding, and collect data to demonstrate the need to improve living conditions in slums. In addition, the Community Organisation Resource Centre will continue to connect the two movements to the international community of slum dwellers and support learning exchanges.
