About this grant

The Social Change Assistance Trust works to improve the quality of life in poor communities by supporting community-based organizations working in those communities. The grantee was established in 1984 to make grants, provide training and facilitate sector-wide connections for organizations that promote access to justice, gender equality, youth empowerment and food security. Past support enabled the grantee to make grants totaling $230,000 to community advice offices and other local development agencies. In addition to providing institutional-strengthening support, the grantee provided training on gender-based violence. This grant increase will enable the Social Change Assistance Trust to provide additional funding to community advice offices and other local development agencies that are on the frontlines of providing an immediate response to the COVID-19 pandemic in rural communities.
