Developing Community Foundations in Chile

About this grant

The program goal is to support the emergence of community foundations in Chile. To this end, in 2021 the Community of Solidarity Organizations took on the role of a community foundation support organization. During the past nine months, the grantee: 1) learned from other regional and global support organizations; 2) met local leaders in various communities around the country; 3) worked with a communications firm to develop a Chilean narrative for community foundations; 4) hired staff to run a long-term program; and 5) developed a plan of action for the next several years. Over the next two years, the grantee will train, pilot and support various territorial initiative groups, leading to the establishment of at least three community foundations in Chile. Founded in 2008, the Community of Solidarity Organizations is a network of 240 nongovernmental organizations with a mission to build a community of strengthened and connected organizations that can influence the development of a just and sustainable society in Chile.
