Community Foundation Development in Zambia

About this grant

The project goal is to develop community foundations in Zambia. To achieve this goal, the Zambia Governance Foundation will increase awareness of the community foundation concept in communities across Zambia and expand knowledge and understanding of the concept among key stakeholders and potential partners. In addition, the grantee will pilot fundraising initiatives to assess interest in communities and adapt the concept to the Zambian context. The grantee will develop a long-term strategy for developing community foundations and identify sources of income for the field in Zambia. The Zambia Governance Foundation was established in 2009 to strengthen the role of civil society in the national development process through grants, capacity development and information sharing. Over the years, the grantee has worked with communities to support their efforts to improve their quality of life.
