About this grant
The Brazilian Institute for Consumer Defense is a large nongovernmental organization focused on ensuring all Brazilian citizens have access to essential goods and services and to social development, sustainable consumption and a healthy planet. Over the previous grant period, the grantee published five technical reports and held convenings with electricity distributors to strengthen the More Light for the Amazon federal program to bring renewable energy access to isolated communities in Brazil. Over the next project period, the grantee will launch a listening project to work with local Amazon communities to improve renewable energy access and examine energy subsidies that support dependence on diesel fuel in the forest.
