About this grant
The program goal is to increase the amount and effectiveness of resources aimed at combating institutional and structural racism in communities. The Philanthropic Initiative for Racial Equity will accomplish this by consulting with grantmakers on the application of a racial justice lens in their grantmaking; improving racial justice data defining, analysis and reporting; training organizations and identifying mechanisms for accountability, quality control and coordination on racial justice; educating foundation and philanthropy-serving organization trustees on racial justice; and partnering with organizations supporting increased global racial justice grantmaking. Founded in 2002 and hosted by the Tides Center, the Philanthropic Initiative for Racial Equity project is dedicated to combating racism through capacity building, education and the convening of grantmakers and grantseekers.
