About this grant
This grant will allow the Afterschool Alliance to continue its efforts to ensure that young people and families — particularly those in underserved populations — will have access to engaging afterschool and summer learning and enrichment opportunities that inspire achievement in school and life. The grantee is playing a pivotal role in supporting youth during the COVID-19 pandemic, serves as a national leader for the afterschool field, works with federal policymakers to advance opportunities for afterschool and summer learning programs and ensures that the field’s lessons inform national, state and local education and youth policy initiatives. The grantee will continue to: 1) lead the field in meeting the needs of young people during the pandemic; 2) serve as an information source on afterschool programs and resource for policymakers, programs and educators; 3) be an effective voice in its efforts to expand quality afterschool programs and innovative models; and 4) increase access to research and data on the effectiveness of quality afterschool programs. The Afterschool Alliance will also work with the 50 State Afterschool Network to support afterschool expansion through the American Rescue Plan and other state and local afterschool initiatives.
