About this grant
The Global Fund for Community Foundations was established to support and promote community philanthropy around the world. The grantee focuses on supporting the development of community foundations and other community philanthropy organizations as essential institutions in the broader civil society sector that advance the well-being of communities on the edges of society. It makes grants, provides technical support and builds knowledge and evidence on the importance of people-centered and community-led development. Past support enabled the grantee to make grants to more than 52 organizations in 32 countries, support the development of these local institutions in emerging economies and promote community philanthropy as an approach to development among funders and other development aid audiences. This grant increase will contribute towards a fund that supports community foundations and other community philanthropy organizations to work in their communities on the immediate and longer-term response to COVID-19.
