About this grant

The Michigan Environmental Council is a coalition of over 80 environmental and faith-based organizations. Since 1980, the grantee has been committed to: 1) addressing environmental threats to Michigan’s water, air and land; 2) inland waters and drinking water concerns; 3) sustainable agriculture; 4) clean energy; 5) environmental health; and 6) protecting the Great Lakes. With this grant, the grantee will focus on engaging members, community leaders and residents as effective local advocates for shared goals, and helping steer powerful, diverse collaborations and fortifying drinking water protections. The Michigan Environmental Council will seek to expand Michigan’s environmental movement, improve operational activities, strengthen Michigan’s environmental protections, ensure access to affordable drinking water and improve the ecological condition of the Great Lakes.
