About this grant
This grant to the Fund for Educational Excellence will enable the Maryland Out-of-School Time Network to increase the availability and expansion of college and career exploration, financial literacy or college affordability planning by enhancing quality afterschool and summer learning opportunities for underserved youth. This project will support the grantee to: 1) increase the awareness and participation in financial literacy and college preparedness initiatives among youth and families; 2) expand and implement professional development opportunities for afterschool professionals around college and career readiness strategies to support the afterschool community; and 3) engage new and existing stakeholders as thought partners to address the lack of supports for youth and families to engage in college and career readiness exploration. The grantee will share promising practices and resources with the Mott-funded 50 State Networks and Mizzen by Mott to enhance college and career readiness initiatives in afterschool programs nationally. The grantee is also a recipient of funding from the Advancing Afterschool portfolio as a statewide afterschool network. This grant will support the Fund for Educational Excellence to build upon a specific opportunity within their state to leverage additional resources and partnerships for afterschool and summer learning programs.
