About this grant
The project goal is to develop community foundations in Uganda. To achieve this goal, CivSource Africa will increase awareness of, and interest in, the community foundation concept, produce tools to support the development of community foundations, generate a community of supporters for the concept and create a long-term strategy for the growth and development of community foundations. Established in 2017, the grantee promotes philanthropy and giving in Uganda. The grantee provides advice, technical support and grantmaking services to individual philanthropists and other philanthropic organizations in the country. In addition, the grantee strengthens the capacity of nonprofits, conducts due diligence and connects the two sides to build a stronger civil society sector in the country. As one of a few organizations in the country working to promote local philanthropy, CivSource Africa has produced learning products that promote local philanthropy and giving, participated in regional learning events on community philanthropy and supported local groups to raise resources and support from communities.
