About this grant
Founded in 1992, Land is Life is a nongovernmental organization working with a trusted network of indigenous leaders, communities and organizations in the greater Amazon and globally. Over the past grant period, the grantee finalized a consultative process with indigenous communities in the Ecuadoran Amazon leading to the development of a Free Prior Informed Consent protocol that addresses development pressure and security threats to environmental defenders of indigenous lands and forests. Over the next grant period, the grantee will replicate the methodology to develop a new protocol in a different setting, consolidate recognition of the protocols and create a regional network to protect and prevent violence against indigenous environmental defenders.
