About this grant
The goal of this project is to develop and enhance community assets through meaningful internships. The Flint Community Initiative, a project of Michigan State University, accomplishes this through an internship program that is focused on community development in Flint. The internships are 10 weeks long and end with a project showcase. Projects planned in 2021 are focused on neighborhoods and education and have been adapted to be virtual, with flexibility available for in-person work upon the lifting of all COVID-19 safety restrictions. The program was founded after community conversations in 2019 indicated a desire for continued community and capacity building work after the water crisis.
