About this grant
The Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy, founded in 1991, is a land trust serving a five-county region located in northwest lower Michigan. In total, the conservancy has protected over 46,000 acres of land and 153 miles of shoreline along the region’s rivers, lakes and streams. During the last grant period alone, the conservancy protected 830 acres of land and two and a half miles of shoreline, built over four miles of new trail, began a multi-year pollinator habitat restoration project and opened two new public nature preserves. The organization also completed construction on its new offices and education center, which serves as a regional hub of conservation activity for a range of partner organizations. With renewal support, the conservancy will pursue a range of land and water quality protection projects, continue to leverage the use of its new headquarters to promote collaborative conservation projects and build organizational strength and staff capacity.
