Building Capacity to Monitor Chinese Investment in Asia

Chinese investments in developing countries have increased exponentially over the past two decades, presenting a major shift in the source and structure of development finance. Since 2012 when it was founded, Inclusive Development International has been vital in raising awareness of the need to strengthen the environmental and social policies of China-influenced development finance institutions, particularly the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. Over the next grant period, the grantee will continue its efforts to deter harmful energy and infrastructure projects, and promote shifts in Chinese overseas investment toward projects that protect the environment, respect the rights of local communities and support a just energy transition.
