About this grant

The program goal is to improve the information space for philanthropic and nonprofit organizations which will, in turn, support better policymaking and practice within the sector. Established in 1988, the Chronicle of Philanthropy is the nonprofit and philanthropic sector’s most prominent information source. In order to expand its reach and better serve the sector, the grantee is spinning off to become an independent nonprofit organization. Over the next two years, the grantee will employ contractors necessary to fully launch the new organization including consultants in organizational development, communications, governance and executive search and professional services such as legal, accounting and human resources. In addition, over the next two years, the grantee will add 13 new staff members to develop the Chronicle of Philanthropy’s independent business capability, digital capacity, explanatory journalism and an expanded opinion section.
