About this grant
The project goal is to increase the activism capacity of community paralegals to be able to advocate for systemic solutions to systemic injustices. To this end, Tshisimani Centre for Activist Education will continue providing education opportunities for community paralegals through its various offerings. Particular attention will be given to developing community paralegals’ understanding of the systemic nature of injustices and inequalities and how to tackle these challenges. Past support allowed the grantee to undertake foundation courses with selected community paralegals in South Africa; develop materials that can be shared and used more widely for community organizations and their staff; and participate in seminars related to community justice. The Tshisimani Centre for Activist Education was established in 2015 with the mandate to assist activists in building their own capacities, using creative means to elevate injustices and seeking solutions to addressing them.
