General Purposes

About this grant

This grant provides support to the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations & Voluntary Action, a leading U.S.-based national and international association that connects scholars, teachers and practitioners interested in research on nonprofit organizations, voluntary action, philanthropy and civil society. Principal activities include: 1) organizing an annual conference; 2) publishing the leading scholarly journal in the field, the Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly; 3) providing tools and media that enable the grantee to support research, discussion and teaching; 4) initiating and supporting the Association for Research on Civil Society in Africa; and 5) organizing the annual Symposium on Public Policy and Nonprofits. With this increase, the grantee will enhance membership recruitment efforts, build and sustain partnerships with academic and nonprofit institutions and become a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organization. Founded in 1971, the grantee is a neutral, open forum that brings together both theoretical and applied interests, helps scholars gain insight into the daily concerns of nonprofits, and provides nonprofit professionals with connections to research they can use to improve their work.
