About this grant
The Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, a program of New York University, is a multi-stakeholder platform that seeks to promote solutions to overcome the lack of access to global justice. In 2022-23, efforts by the Pathfinders and its partners to promote people-centered justice as an organizing principle in offering justice services, saw 60 countries endorse these principles. Twenty-one of these countries joined in the Justice Action Coalition, along with civil society and other partners, to further advocate for people-centered policy change. This growing campaign for people-centered justice contributed to key international actors including United States Agency for International Development and the United Nations Development Program, to explicitly adopt people-centered principles in their programming. In 2024-25, the grantee will continue their justice work in cooperation with the Justice Action Coalition, a multi-stakeholder coalition of countries and organizations championing equal access to justice for all. Their efforts will focus on three priority areas: 1) working with national governments to accelerate implementation of access to justice strategies; 2) engaging international and multi-lateral institutions and cross-sectoral partnerships to advance justice; and 3) fostering an effective initiative for justice at international, national and local levels.
