About this grant

The project goal is to build better relationships between community paralegals and the formal legal fraternity in Africa. To this end, the International Commission of Jurists will undertake various activities to create space for meaningful conversations between the judiciary, lawyers and community paralegals. This grant will support these engagements in southern Africa, with a goal to replicate the project at scale. The grantee was established in 1952 with the purpose of promoting justice and human rights within the formal legal sector. With headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, this grant will be executed by the International Commission of Jurists’ Africa Program based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
