Community Foundation Development in Malawi

About this grant

The purpose of the project is to develop community foundations in Malawi. To achieve this goal, World Connect Malawi will increase awareness and interest of the community foundation concept, expand knowledge and understanding among partners and identify initiatives that have the potential to become community foundations. Additionally, the grantee will test resource and asset development initiatives, adapt the concept to the Malawian context and develop a long-term plan for expanding the community foundation concept in the country. The grantee was established in 2021 as an independent grantmaking entity and supports communities to lead their own development by identifying challenges in their communities and using their time, treasure and talents to resolve these challenges. Since 2018, World Connect Malawi supported over 121 communities across the country to unlock over $1 million towards activities prioritized and led by the communities themselves.
