About this grant

The project goal is to research and document best practices on access to justice innovations in communities at the grassroots of Africa. To this end, Barefoot Law will continue using its participatory research methodology to document justice innovations that work for poor and marginalized communities across Africa. The focus of this grant will be to deepen its work in Kenya and Malawi, while undertaking baseline research in Zambia. Past support has allowed the grantee to undertake baseline research in Kenya, Uganda and Malawi. The findings of this research were published in a report and discussed at various forums, including the annual Legal Aid Innovations Conference organized by the grantee. Barefoot Law was founded in 2013 in Uganda, with the purpose of empowering people to develop legal solutions for their justice needs.
